GIVING OPINIONS - DIALOGUE

The directors of an international company in Prague are having a meeting on English language courses for their staff.

Mark: ‘As you know, English is an extremely important language in today’s business world. We are also getting more and more international customers who we need to communicate with in English. I strongly believe that some of our staff do not have a high enough level of English. I really feel that we could lose some customers as result.’

Sue: ‘So what do you propose Mark?’

Mark: ‘Well, personally I think that we should spend more money on language lessons and give individual lessons to staff, who need it the most.’

Chris: ‘I think so too, but don’t you think that our employees should help with the cost? I mean we don’t have such a large budget and these lessons are expensive.’

Mark: ‘I would agree, but I have the feeling that some of our employees won’t agree to paying for lessons themselves.’

Sue: ‘If you ask me, I’d say that we should split the cost 50-50. That seems fair to me.’
