APOLOGISING - DIALOGUE

The Director of Studies at a Prague language school is having a meeting with a teacher in her office.

Pavlina: ‘Well, Troy, please come in and sit down. I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but some of your students are unhappy with your lessons and we need to discuss it.’

Troy: ‘Really? I’m very sorry to hear that.’

Pavlina: ‘Well firstly, they said you were ten minutes late last week.’

Troy: ‘Oh yeah … well I’m really sorry about that. I was out late the night before and I overslept. It won’t happen again.’

Pavlina: ‘And they said that your mobile phone is always ringing during the lesson.’

Troy: ‘It’s true, that’s totally my fault. I’ll switch it off before I go to class.’

Pavlina: ‘Yes. They also said that you don’t seem to put much effort into planning your lessons.’

Troy: ‘Yeah, I guess I owe them an apology. I need to try harder. So sorry that I let you down Pavlina. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?

Pavlina: ‘Well, I told the students we truly regret the problems and will try to put things right.’

Troy: ‘I’ll try to do better. I apologize for any inconvenience Pavlina.’
